I'm so confused right now!
Up until I was at Longwood, I wanted to be a teacher. I love kids, and so I figure teaching was the right career for me. After I attended Longwood for one semester, one very long semester, I chose to come home and try nursing. I also love babies, and would love to be a neonatal nurse...Or so I thought. I'm just really confused about what I need to do. I need to pray about it and rely on God to show me where and what He wants me to do.
Lists always help, right? I'll do like a pro/con.
Nursing-Pro's
- Working with newborns every day
- Patient/nurse rapport.
- Good stable paycheck.
- Stable job, I know I won't have to worry about cut backs. Newborns are always coming!
- Friendships with fellow nurses.
Nursing-Con's
- I don't want to stick a baby with a needle.
- I get attached really easily, and if one of them were to die, I'd be devastated.
- Tough school work.
- No breaks.
- Ignorant parents who don't know what to do with a baby.
Teaching-Pro's
- Teaching kids something they don't know and seeing that lightbulb in their head go off.
- Working with the same kids every day, and having a relationship with each one. Let me clarify, a PROFESSIONAL relationship. Just in case someone twists my words...you can never be too safe.
- Summer break!
- Winter break!
- Spring break!
- School holidays!
- Developing friendships with fellow teachers.
Teaching-Con's
- Lower paycheck than nurses.
- May have to deal with obnoxious students/parents.
- May have cutbacks on school employees.
I don't really know what to do yet, I'll just have to pray and let God take control.
